Last week Chicago’s Devon Kay & the Solutions released a brand new single and accompanying music video titled “Oh Glorious Nothing.” While avid DK&S fans will recognize the song from the band’s January 1st, 2020 release, Achilles Feels: Alternate Versions of Songs We Wrote When I Was Hurt, this version is a little different. The song itself is a step in a much larger direction for the band, solidifying the Solutions’ sound with newest editions Jacob Horn (trombone), Jake Levinson (bass), Ian Terry (trumpet), & Joram Zbichorski (keyboards). Pulling inspiration from a love of Pop Punk and Ska to New Wave influence to big band horn lines, The Solutions are open to expanding the “ska-punk” genre to something you don’t need to apologize for liking.
Devon had the following to say about the new band lineup and direction of the band as a whole:
“All of these new Solutions are all crazy good musicians from Wisconsin. I dunno why I found this treasure trove of WI musicians by way of Chicago but I did and you can’t have them.”
