Massachusetts-based punk rock band Already Dead has released a blistering new album Something Like A War today both digitally and on CD.
With the confrontational and varied new album, Already Dead declare a dignified purpose, as working class vocalist and guitarist Dan Cummings and the gang go full-throttle over an unapologetic and unforgiving 14 songs, including May’s abrasive social inequality battle cry “The Spirit of Massachusetts Avenue,” last month’s feverish ska-punk title track, and an amplified version of “Landlord,” which WBUR dubbed “a protest song for the modern labor movement.”
Band member Dan Cummings stated the following about the new release:
“I was watching the Ken Burns documentary on baseball, and heard the Ty Cobb quote about how ‘every game is something like a war’. It immediately resonated with me for a few reasons. First it just sounds badass [laughs]. But also to describe approaching something with that kind of intensity and determination struck a chord.”
