Today, Upstate NY’s premiere riot grrrl Rock ‘n’ Roll band Basic Bitches has released their brand new album, It Doesn’t Matter If It’s Cool. Recorded in summer 2022 with J Robbins (Jawbox, Burning Airlines) at Magpie Cage studio, the album is a sonic step forward for the staunchly DIY band and features several fan favorites from their live shows. The album’s artwork was designed by noted collage artist, Charles Wilkin, and features an abstract portrait of the band constructed from Polaroids. The record is available digitally and accompanied by an array of exclusive merchandise bundles on the band’s store.
The release of It Doesn’t Matter If It’s Cool is accompanied by a video for album-closer, “House of Basic Bitches.” The video was edited by singer Naomi Scott from footage of the band shot by Jorge Columbo in his studio, phone footage of the band playing at Otto’s Shrunken Head – shot by fans, and stills taken by the band on disposable cameras during their summer touring last year, recording in Baltimore and at their landmark show at The Callicoon Theater.
