Somewhere in mid-2017 Jan Drees, singer of The Shell Corporation and foreign country border crossing extraordinaire, sent me twelve unmastered songs. It had been three and some odd change years since the San Fernando Valley-based band had released their full-length Mandrake via Paper + Plastick and Solidarity Recordings. It was time for a reboot. On March 2nd, the band will be releasing their new full-length, entitled Fucked, via La Escalera Records in the US and on Gunner Records in Europe
In true Shell Corp form, the current political climate feeds the fodder of Drees’ lyrics. However, the songs also dip into the subject of love lost and the sense of baffling anger that results from having someone close to you suddenly feel so foreign. Without jumping the gun and reviewing the album here, I’ll just tell you it’s good. Really fucking good.
But you don’t need to take my word for it, because we’re premiering all twelve tracks of Fucked today! Stream the whole album below:
You can pre-order your copy of Fucked today. If you’re in the US, grab yours through La Escalera’s distro site. And if you’re one of our overseas friends, you can order your copy here. The band will be hitting the road in support of the album too. So keep checking back for tour dates, a more official album review, and other updates on The Shell Corporation!
