Boston’s We Demand Parachutes has released their newest single entitled “29.” The new song will be featured on the Alt/Indie trio’s new EP, Outside The Null Field, which will be released on November 11th. The track explores themes of mental health issues, the type of feelings that spring up when the party ends and everyone goes home. Produced and co-written with Alan Day of Four Year Strong, the super-polished “29” is a wildly infectious song that intentionally contrasts with its darker lyrical tone.
The band had the following to say about the single:
“’29’ is a song about coping with mental health. Kevin’s [McCord] initial focus when writing the lyrics was to try to relate the feeling of being 29 years old and feeling like he hadn’t achieved any of the things he hoped to in his 30s. There was a general feeling for all of us in We Demand Parachutes at that time that the traditional metrics of success didn’t define our current positions in life. ’29’ addresses the anxiety and dread associated with obsessing with everyone’s expectations of who you are.”
