Kendra Sheetz Today, we’re premiering a new music video from Chicago’s Andrew Paley. The new song is entitled “Sequels” and is a revised version of the 2020 original, which used AI to lip sync clips from a variety of Paley’s favorite movies. For this new iteration, he swapped out some scenes and used new models to try to touch up and upscale everything.
Andrew had the following to say about the video:
“…while it’s obvious these clips are altered, without getting too far into the technical weeds, the model I used wasn’t specifically trained on any of these actors’ faces, which made this sort of “ensemble cast” video feasible. I like the uncanny valley effect of it all — it feels closer to a form of collage than an attempted deep fake, and it’s interesting to see what all these new techniques allow you to reframe as raw materials.”
