Earlier this summer, Terry Irwin – the man behind the Austin-based band Compilations – released a four track EP entitled The Powerless. The project occasionally features a rotating cast of friends playing punk covers for fun.
To celebrate the release, Compilations played a show in Austin in June and recorded their set. Today, we’re premiering one of the songs that was both featured on the EP and performed at the release show. It’s a cover of Tom Petty’s “You Wreck Me” featuring Jeff Caudill of Gameface.
Terry had the following about the new single and video:
“‘You Wreck Me’ has always stood out as one of Tom Petty’s best songs. When we tracked the music, I sent the rough mix to Jeff Caudill, who has always been one of my favorite vocalists. His response, ‘When do I track my vocals?’ I couldn’t have been more stoked. The Powerless EP vinyl release show was such a blast. Four of the five vocalists featured on the record performed and Compilations finished the set with ‘You Wreck Me’ and Jeff, killing it!”
