Chicago songwriter Jack Riedy and his backing band the Dealbreakers have dropped a brand new single entitled “Hometown Bombs” along with an accompanying music video.
The punk protest song was inspired by an early encounter with the military-industrial complex. “Hometown Bombs” channels The Clash and anti-war songs of the Bush years by bands like Bloc Party and the Chicks.
Riedy shared the following about the new track:
“When I was in middle school, our class had a visit from a local defense manufacturer, meant to inspire our young minds to pursue engineering careers. Years later I learned what the company right down the street from my favorite donut shop actually did: build drones and missiles.”
The music video for “Hometown Bombs” was edited by James Matteson, is a compilation of live footage from the band’s recent club gigs. Check it out below and keep checking back for more from Jack Riedy & the Dealbreakers!
