Last week, we were ecstatic to bring you the first new single from West Coast-based band Pity Party in years, a track entitled “E-Boy Meets World.” And today, we’re so very excited to be premiering the accompanying music video for the song!
“E-Boy Meets World,” is a song that balances fast, melodic pop punk song with the emotional weight of the subject matter of the lyrics. It also features a new lineup for the band.
Bandmember Sarah shared the following about the new single:
“I wrote this song about something I’ve struggled with for a long time: what happens after you escape abuse? People often talk about getting out like it’s the finish line, but for a lot of us, that’s when a different kind of suffering begins. You carry those experiences into new relationships, and even when someone is patient, kind, and safe, your brain doesn’t always let you believe it.
“‘E-Boy Meets World’ is about wanting to love someone who genuinely cares about you while feeling emotionally numb and disconnected from yourself. It’s about realizing that you’re no longer in danger, but your body and mind still act like you are. Healing isn’t always comforting. Sometimes it hurts more to start feeling again than it did to survive by feeling nothing at all. The song wrestles with guilt, fear, and the feeling that trauma has changed you into someone you don’t recognize anymore.
“Our intention in putting out this song is to help people feel less alone in their feelings; to open the door to have these conversations, and to empower them to seek the help and support that helps us move through the aftermath of abuse.”
