Today, we’re stoked beyond belief to be premiering a brand new music video from Regan Ashton. Regan is also the bassist/vocalist of Salt Lake City-based band Problem Daughter. In May of 2018, he released his solo album entitled …And The People You Always Have With You via La Escalera Records. This song, “Binge,” is featured on that LP.
Regan had the following to say about the track:
“It’s no big secret my struggles with drugs and alcohol. In fact, I speak rather loudly about my problems to anyone who dares stand close to me for more than a few minutes. Over the last ten years, I can’t even recall a day I wasn’t blasted besides the times I had the flu or some shit like that. I’m tired. I’m sloppy. Literally nobody can depend on me and that bums me out, and that is what this song is about.
I’m not saying I am going to rehab or AA (yet), but I think it’s time for me to do better. I don’t need to be Colin Farrell in that scene in True Detective: Season 2, fucked up and going from crying to laughing to air drumming to puking every night. Getting wasted and making this video, business as usual, was sort of eye opening. I can do better than this (Me. Myself. Not the video or the director, Matt Haight. He does great work and is a swell dude.) It’s not going to be an overnight success, but I’m working through this shit.”
Watch the video for “Binge” now and keep checking back for more updates from Regan, Problem Daughter, La Escalera, and more!
