Atlanta, GA-based band Tongues of Fire recently released a new single, entitled “Superficial,” along with an accompanying music video. The new song comes on the heels of the announcement of the band’s sophomore full-length album, which will be released on May 13th via Godless America. The self-titled album features remasters of four singles released since the band’s Burn Your Body Clean EP.
“Superficial” crashes dissonant guitars into bruising drums as singer/guitarist Lowell Hobbs wrestles with internal frustrations and searches for an escape. That restlessness is something that is at the core of these new recordings.
Hobbs shared the following about the upcoming album:
“This new record isn’t trying to give any answers but instead captures an experience shared by many. It’s about the struggle to stay afloat and remain sane in America. ‘Superficial’ is a response to the endless torrent of surface level media that dominates our every waking moment.”
“Superficial” arrives with a visual that captures the chaos and excitement of the DIY scene. A ripping house show soon to be busted for illegal liquor sales, tours scuttled by winter storms, venues and bands that existed for mere moments in time.
