Personally, I had never heard of the band “Covet.. I have heard various positive reviews but I am new to the scene of this artist. I searched a few videos of the lead guitarist, Yvette Young, shredding on her uniquely styled instrument. That gave me an idea of how impressive this band would be live. I attended this show with little to no knowledge of what to expect.
The first opener, King of Heck, entered the room with such positive energy. The lead singer was wearing a distressed Frank Ocean shirt. His act was full of raw emotion and positive energy. The second opening act was called “Hikes”. The four piece-band was instantly kind and welcoming. They were shy at first but then shocked the room with a trumpet at the end of their set. The two bands were both considered indie-rock. Which made them a perfect fit to warm up the room for Covet.
Covet entered the atmosphere with such radiate energy. Yvette Young was full of excitement and hidden talent that I had yet to witness. The minute she started smiling at the crowd I knew I was in for a treat. The drummer, Forrest Rice, was also very ecstatic and ready to perform alongside his fellow talented members. The set began with a slow but upbeat song. The crowd appeared relaxed and was full of amazing energy. The rest of the night carried on through Covet’s blissful sound.
