Okinawa’s ISW (Infinity Star World) started their California tour off with a bang! Playing at 924 Gilman St, the Japanese pop-punk quartet made their debut in the United States on Friday, July 28th. The show featured Rum Rebellion from Portland, and local bands Isotope, Heartless Folk, and Under 15 Seconds.
If you haven’t seen Under 15 Seconds, then you are missing one of the funniest punk jokes on the planet. A comedic two piece from Richmond, CA, they started off the show by getting everyone to smile.
ISW blew everyone away with their “East Bay” influenced sound. Many in the audience compared their music to several well known local bands. After the set, the members talked to everyone and continued to chat it up for the rest of the night.
Rum Rebellion stirred up the crowd, causing a ruckus of joyfully aggressive dancing in the middle of the floor. Their Irish piratey punk melodies are so catchy, it’s almost impossible to not to tap along with your foot.
With high energy vocals and shredding guitars, Isotope closed out the night. Anyone that left early made a huge mistake, because this band is an upcoming hardcore act that is just too good to miss.
ISW is continuing on their tour this week when they head down to Southern California. They will be playing August 3rd in Los Angeles at the Redwood Bar and Grill, August 4th in San Diego at Til Two Club, and August 5th at Parks and Rock in Anaheim. They will be closing out the tour in San Francisco on August 6th at Neck Of The Woods before flying back to Japan.
