Caitlin Edwards wears a lot of hats. She is the singer/guitarist for Bumsy and The Moochers, a Ska-Punk band based in the suburbs of Chicago. Speaking of the ‘burbs’, she also is the co-founder of the Punk The Burbs music festival along with Jason Fein of The Run Around, which would have been having its fourth anniversary this year if the pandemic hadn’t been as bad as it has been. On that note, something else to know about her…. Caitlin Edwards works in a hospital all day, specializing in music therapy. She is required to wear a mask all day, just like anyone else on the hospital staff. If she can do it, you can do it.
I had the pleasure of meeting Caitlin when Tsunami Bomb performed at Punk The Burbs in 2019. Having been a promoter in prior years, I absolutely understand how tough it can be to put on a day long festival, let along a two day festival. We talk a bit about the pains and joys of being a promoter, and dig into the history of the festival. We spend some time discussing the Midwest music scene and the forward momentum of the Ska scene. Caitlin digs into some of her favorite bands, and we of course find out what her Top 5 Desert Island Albums are.
