First Time Fest Band Exclusive: Taken Days

It’s almost that time of year again, where thousands upon thousands of black t-shirt and jorts wearing music fans will descend upon Gainesville, FL in hopes of seeing their favorite bands and drinking just enough to not remember seeing anything all. While there are hundreds of well-known names on the Fest schedule this year, we wanted to showcase a handful of the bands who are heading down to Florida and playing for the very first time. So keep reading, check out all the bands in this series, and get to know some really great under the radar talent!

Next on the roster is a band from the Santa Ana area of Orange County, California. Taken Days was formed back in 2016 out of the remnants of several other musical projects. They will be playing on Friday, October 28th at The Backyard at Boca/Palomino at 7:10PM.

Taken Days recently released a cover song for a Vagrant Records tribute album. Stream that single below!

Kendra Sheetz

How long has Taken Days been a band?

Taken Days started in 2017 with Corey being the only remaining founding member. Brent joined in late 2017, Landon in mid-2018.

Kendra Sheetz

Have you attended Fest before?

None or us have ever attended FEST but are so stoked.

Kendra Sheetz

What are you stoked for during Fest weekend?

Most stoked to hang and jam with so many our friends and Wiretap Records label mates including: Odd Robot, Audio Karate, Breaklights, American Television, Talk Show Host, Rundown Kreeps, Shiiva, wolves x 4, Timeshares, Tiny Stills, Catholic Guilt, Sweet Gloom, and American Thrills. Other friends of ours playing are Tsunami Bomb, Bad Cop, HAILACAB, Matt Caskitt and Neckscars. Then the chance to meet so many new people and make more friends is high on the stoke meter. Oh yeah and Piebald, Hot Water Music, The Flatliners, Bouncing Souls, and The Menzingers are among several of our favorite headliners.

Kendra Sheetz

What’s your very best tour or epic show story?

Best tour story; playing Tempe, AZ earlier this year when the power went out from a storm during the opening band. Power was not going to come back on and show was cancelled. However, Someone asked us if we would do an acoustic set of they found two acoustic guitars. So Corey and I played a handful of songs to the room with everyone holding up their cell phone flash lights. Really cool experience.

Kendra Sheetz

Let’s say you’re booking the lineup of a festival that represents you as a band. What would the top 5 headliners be?

A festival headliner lineup that best represents our sound would include:
Alkaline Trio
Mxpx
Blink-182
The Menzingers
Bayside
Weezer

To name a few.

Kendra Sheetz

What does the band have coming up? What can we all look forward to from ya’ll?

What’s up next: the week leading into FEST 20 we play Attention Fest in Southern California with The Last Gang, Mercy Music, Codename: Rocky and many other great Wiretap bands. Then we hit Tempe, AZ with Agent Orange and The Venomous Pinks. After returning home from FEST we’re gonna focus on getting the next record finished. It has been written and demos recorded. We’re in the final pre-production phases with our producer Cameron Webb. The songs are really great and a major step up from the first album. We can’t wait to share these songs in 2023. Then head out for more rad shows and great hangs!!
