Boston-based heavy emo quartet Unseemlier has released a new five song EP via Sell the Heart Records. The new album, entitled The Truth is We Out Here, is filled with urgent lyrics about the volatility of growing up disenfranchised and poor, unflinching in the face of end-stage capitalism, being left behind in life and death – electrify this ephemeral and powerful record.
The band formed over the winter of 2023-24 by Mike Assatly on vocals and guitar (Little Low, Beartrap), Kevin Merriam on drums (Crescent Ridge, Maura), and Chris Pina on guitar (Spirits, Borderland). They hit the ground running, writing and recording with Jason Tucker in Dorchester, during which Andrea Neuenfeldt (MK Naomi, Fake Rays) joined on bass.
