Fred Mascherino Premieres Re-imagined Cover of Taking Back Sunday “Set Phasers to Stun”

Taking Back Sunday‘s album Where You Want to Be turns 20 years old this July. Fred Mascherino (formerly of Breaking Pangaea, Taking Back Sunday, Brody, and Terrible Things, currently of Say Anything and leader of The Color Fred) recorded this re-imagining of “Set Phasers to Stun.”

Last fall, Fred Mascherino went on an acoustic tour performing songs from all of his various projects, and now he’s gearing up to release a new The Color Fred EP, Re-Inventions, featuring re-imagined acoustic versions of songs from all five of those projects.

Mascherino had the following to say about the single’s release:

“‘Set Phasers to Stun’ was an early song we wrote for Where You Want To Be, which was my first album with Taking Back Sunday. It was the album opener and always held a special spot for me. The fact that the album is 20 years old this year is crazy. I feel blessed and fortunate that people are still listening to it all these years later.”
