On the heels of their punchy full length Vintage Millennial (Eccentric Pop Records), Hayley and the Crushers is bringing fun, sun, and soda pop sass to a world that truly needs a pick-me-up.
The San Luis Obispo-based band has announced the release of a two song 7″ EP entitled Jacaranda. The new album will be released on June 2nd and will be available in three limited edition vinyl colors courtesy of Reta Records (Canada) and Surfin Ki Records (Europe). US fans will be able to stream the album or snag a copy during the Crushers’ West Coast and Midwest tour planned for this fall.
The band broke down each track starting with “Jacaranda”:
“We spent 100 days on the road criss-crossing the United States in 2019. I wrote this song before embarking on a long string of dates, when I was feeling my most itchy to get out on the road,” guitarist/vocalist Hayley Cain said. The Jacaranda trees were blooming bright purple in my town (San Luis Obispo, CA) and it felt like a sign that I could find more satisfaction elsewhere. They were telling me to go and seek out more adventure in my life. As it turns out, wherever you go, there you are.”
The B-side, “Angelyne,” is all about 1980s billboard queen Angelyne, whom singer Hayley Cain met in 2016 after winning a contest.
“I got to ride in her pink corvette through Hollywood a few years ago. I eventually got very carsick and even threw up in front of her–but not inside her precious car!” Cain said of the surreal experience. “I have always be intrigued with Angelyne’s single-minded moxie. She came to LA as a nobody and–with a lot of well-placed billboards–positioned herself to be the talk of the town, regardless of what anyone thought of her merits (or lack thereof).”
