California’s poolside glitter trash trio is back with a new cassingle for us to pump our fists to! 2020 has been an eventful year for Hayley and the Crushers, who released their punchy LP Vintage Millennial (Eccentric Pop) and summertime jam 7″ Jacaranda.
Dedicated to the elder rockers who never forgot the power of three chords cranked loud, “Church of Flag” is a homage to growing old and staying punk. The new cassingle features Hayley singing side A, and for a bit of friendly band rivalry, Dr. Cain sings side B.
The band had the following to say about the new release:
“When we think back to the early bands that formed us as youngsters, the influence of Black Flag is way up there. The raw explosiveness of the music changed our DNA forever! This song is all about seeing that transformation through and holding onto that energy if you can. Not all of us survived the journey from young rocker to elder punk. In fact, many of our friends didn’t make it past that hurdle. This tune’s for them–and a reminder for the rest of us, who, for better or worse, keep trying to carry on that flag.”
Both version of the single are available on limited cassette now from the band’s Bandcamp and you can stream Hayley’s version below!
