We’re premiering a brand new single and an accompanying music video from Long Beach, CA-based band Heartwells. The song, entitled “Piss n’ Gums,” will be featured on the band’s new and upcoming EP Ollie which will be released both digitally and on vinyl on July 8th via HEY!FEVER Records.
Bandmember JT shared the following about the new single:
“‘Piss n’ Gums’ is a song about taking the beatings in life so much that it almost becomes masochistic. The metaphor of life being a cruel mistress in a way. Growing up I ran into a lot of hurdles in life, I look back at a-lot of the hardships and the cards I was dealt and how that has shaped me to be a stronger person and to rise above the things that would normally hold someone down.
Life is constantly a challenge but I think that’s what shapes us and makes us who we are. I’ve learned to accept my challenges as experiences I’m supposed to have rather than try to avoid them. The sweet can’t taste as good without the sour. Life is like a Dom ready to crack a whip on you when you least expect it. Might as well learn to enjoy it!
I think the song is a lot of fun and has great energy. I wrote the intro riff and sat on it for years until the right composition came through. We threw some Motorhead lyrics in there for fun. My vocals on this song were done in one take!”
The song was recorded and produced by Paul Miner and Mastered by Chris Hesse. The video was shot and directed by Jeff Antons at Rage Ground in Los Angeles. The band will be playing an album release show at Alex’s Bar in Long Beach CA on July 6th where you can purchase the record exclusively before it goes public. AND, they just announced today and they will be playing Fest this year down in Gainesville, FL!
