Chicago’s own The Gunshy recently released a new single along with an accompanying music video! The song is titled “Buzzer Beater,” and it will be released on the band’s new and upcoming album Hurricane Umbrellas.
The Gunshy is the brainchild of musician Matt Arbogast, who will be releasing the new album on vinyl on his own label, Sleep Recordings. It was recorded and mixed by Arbogast at his Chicago studio, 8AM. It was mastered by Greg Obis (MJ Lenderman, Cloud Nothings) at Chicago Mastering Service. Arbogast also enlisted some of his favorite collaborates, including Mike “Slo-Mo” Brenner (Magnolia Electric Company, Wild Pink) on lap steel guitar and dobro, Mark Glick (AJJ) on cello, Kara Eubanks on violin, Ben Grigg (Babe Report) on horns and keys, and Max Stern (Signals Midwest) on guitar. Hurricane Umbrellas was produced by AJJ’s Sean Bonnette.
The band recently released a single off the album, entitled “Buzzer Beater.”
Arbogast shared the following about the new single:
“‘Buzzer Beater’ is me being critical of myself for getting too caught up in the day to day rat race. I found myself spending too much time worrying about anything and everything, so I tried to calm myself down by writing a song about it.
Check out the new single and music video below and, if you’re local, check out The Gunshy on 12/7 at Beat Kitchen for a record release show!
