The night began with excitement in the air and a burst of cool weather – an ideal backdrop for an energetic pop-punk show. As a photographer and passionate fan, I had the incredible opportunity to capture two of my favorite bands, The Story So Far and Neck Deep. With it only being the second date of their fall tour, I was in for a real treat.
The night began with Pain of Truth, a hardcore punk band from Long Island, New York. They recently released a new EP, Coast To Coast Split, which blends hardcore, beatdown and thrash elements. I had never seen them live before, so I was especially curious about what they’d bring to the stage.
As the band entered the room, the energy spiked. Fans immediately began to mosh, and the lead singer continued to hype the crowd up. Each member of the band shared great chemistry. About halfway through their set, the lead vocalist jumped off the stage, and handed the microphone to a passionate fan. Overall, their performance was raw, interactive, and a great start to the night.
Next up was Origami Angel, a pop-punk band from Washington D.C. Their 2019 full-length album, Somewhere City, is an energetic and uplifting piece of work that I have grown to adore. I had seen them live before, and I was very eager to see them on this packed tour. The duo entered the stage beaming, their excitement visible as they jumped in sync. Their set was energetic, filled with timeless lyrics and a high-energy blend of pop punk. The crowd fed off their vibe, moshing and shouting along in perfect unison. It was a joy to capture their set a second time.
The third act, Neck Deep, brought a chaotic energy that I’ve come to love. Hailing from Wrexham, UK, this band is one I’ve seen multiple times. This was my third time seeing them, and they never disappoint. As they hit the stage, the room filled with head banging and cheers. The fans along the barricade sang along passionately to every song. The set was full of many Neck Deep classics as well as some deep cuts. Overall, their performance was relentless, magnetic, and an absolute blast to capture.
The final act of the night, The Story So Far, is a pop-punk band from Walnut Creek, California. I’ve been listening to them since high school, always intrigued by their fast paced pop-punk sound. By the time they took the stage, the venue was fully packed in. As soon as they stepped onto the stage, the room erupted in cheers. The lead vocalist, Parker Cannon, continued to wave, and bow down to the crowd. The band then proceeded to dive into their jam packed set. Looking around, I could see groups of people fully immersed in the moment, singing along, moshing and crowd surfing. Their entire set was emotional, high-energy, and very engaging.
Overall, each artist brought something special to the night, and I enjoyed capturing every moment as well.
