Welcome back, we missed you! On today’s episode, Andy sits down (from a very long distance) with Rob Castellon, the founder of WireTap Records. For those living under a rock, Wiretap Records is an independent record label on fire, releasing a number of absolutely fantastic albums over the past five years. Recently, they have released albums from Mercy Music, Catholic Guilt, F.O.D., Answering Machine, American Television, Call Me Macolm, In Parallel, The Beautiful Mistake, Virginity, Cables & Arms , Movin In Stereo and that is just this year alone!!
In addition to their current roster, bands like Spanish Love Songs, Audio Karate, Tiny Stills, Decent Criminal, Night Surf, Divided Heaven and many more have released albums through Wiretap, and have all benefited from Rob’s guidance and work ethic.
Rob and Andy dive into some of the trials and tribulations of starting and running a record label, but are sure to point out some of the highlights, too. We dig into the roster and try to figure out if Wiretap has a specific “sound” or not. Rob gives us the skinny on some of the bands that he’s worked with over the years and teases us about some upcoming projects. And of course, we dig into some of his favorite bands, and he gives us his Top 5 Desert Island albums.
