Hailing from the Lone Star State, Steadfast HTX are our featured guests this week. Made up of four long-time friends, the band self-released their debut album Transmitters in 2020, just before the pandemic. While they had some big plans to promote and tour for the album, those were obviously put on the shelf for the time being. But the band is ready to make up for lost time, and get on the road once shows begin happening again.
Along with being self-released, the band recorded the album themselves. Charlie Price’s (drums) production on the album provides a gritty yet clean quality to the songs, reminiscent of early Social Distortion and Rancid, The Drowns and The Clash. Principal songwriter/singer/guitarist Jason Bancroft’s gravely vocals blend well alongside Travis Smith’s buzzy guitars and Andrew Wupper’s steady bass lines. As noted in the episode, it’s a great sounding record!
We spend some time talking about what it is to be a band from Texas; everything from having to deal with the length of drives to get outside of the state, to the phenomenon of having Wal-Mart sized gas stations (wtf??). We talk about some of the bands from Texas that are doing awesome things, and what their plans are for the coming months post-pandemic.
Be sure to give Steadfast HTX a follow on the socials, and be on the lookout shows in your area!
