Oakland’s This is My Fest is at the end of the month! We wanted to do something to help celebrate one of our favorite West Coast DIY fests. So every Tuesday and Thursday, we have been releasing an interview with one of the bands who will be playing TIM Fest this year. Want to know where The Decline loves to play when they’re on tour in the Bay? We’ve got that. Want to know if The Copyrights think NorCal or SoCal has the best burritos in California? We’ve got that. Want to know what Danzig’s fondest punk house moment was? We… well we don’t have that. But we’ve got other cool shit you’ll probably also like.
We sat down with Todd from Squarecrow and talked about burritos, bars, bands, and more!
In case you didn’t know: the fourth installment of This is My Fest will commence on Thursday, September 28th and the party will continue all weekend through Sunday, October 1st. Four day weekend passes are now on sale for only $35, a huge discount from what the walk up price will be for all five shows! That’s so few dollars for so many bands! There are still more bands to be announced, as well as daily schedules and a few other surprises. Tickets are limited, so grab your pass today!
Interview
Which part of California has the better burrito, NorCal or SoCal?
Southern California. A small place called Ramona. If you go there, you will find what you’re looking for.
What bands are you most excited to see or to play alongside this year?
Hot Bods to watch Patrick make magic with a guitar. Four Lights to be held and for uninterrupted eye contact. Civil War Rust because I can never remember seeing them.
What is your favorite all ages/DIY spot in your city?
I don’t think they allow minors in bars.
Does your band have any sort of fun tour “games” or “traditions”?
We sing yell the confusing parts of System of a Down songs to each other.
If you could play with one Bay Area band – active or not – which and why?
Pitch Black because I didn’t want to say AFI… because my whole life is a room. One. Big. Dark. Room.
