Punks in Vegas has announced an art exhibit to celebrate their eight birthday. Punks in Vegas: An 8 Year Photo Retrospective runs from August 1st through September 30th at Rebar, located in the Arts District of Las Vegas (1225 S. Main St. 89104).
The gallery will feature 11X14 photographs taken by four members of the Punks in Vegas team: Aaron Mattern, Hunter Wallace, Christopher Mounts, and Punks in Vegas founder Steven Matview. Photos will be available to purchase for $30 each. If you’ve always wanted a framed photo of Dany Panda from Rayner to hang above your mantel, this is your chance!
While the Punks in Vegas website (founded in 2011) showcases photos of bands from all over, the gallery at Rebar will focus specifically on homegrown talent. That means people who come out will get to see live concert shots of bands like Last Call, Mercy Music, and Be Like Max. It’s also a nice time to see the man, many (many) venues that are no longer with us preserved in photographs.
To celebrate all this, Punks in Vegas is throwing a free kickoff show at Rebar on Saturday, August 3rd at 8 PM. There will be acoustic performances by friends of the site Brock Frabbiele (designer of the original Punks in Vegas logo) and Crimson Riot as well as a poetry reading by James Norman.
Revive Vegas will be on hand at the kickoff to collect gently used clothing for the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth at the show. The show itself is free so dig deep in their closets and donate for a good cause!
