Today, we’re premiering the new album, If That’s Opportunity, Don’t Answer , from Trenton, NJ’s Coach’s Son. The EP is their second release since their 2019 debut I Don’t Know Much About Art, But I Know What Makes me Mad.
The two new songs manage a striking balance between Coach’s Son’s two vocalists: capitalizing on Sean Bystrzycki’s impassioned roar to set a tone that crumbles before giving way to Matt Vaneekhoven’s vulnerable whine. That vulnerability lies at the center of Coach’s Son music. In the band’s own words: punk rock’s real power comes from being able to admit what’s breaking or broken, to examine it honestly and then confront it as necessary.
If That’s Opportunity, Don’t Answer is out now on Jetsam-Flotsam. Stream it below and keep checking back for more news about Coach’s Son.
