Chase Spruiell, who writes and performs music as Big Loser, hunkered down at The Sandwich Shoppe (Durham, NC) to record a new EP. The album is titled Left on Delmar Drive and will be released on Black Numbers on May 19th. The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Scotty Sandwich at The Sandwich Shoppe in Durham, NC.
The band has released a new single, entitled “I’m Rubber, You’re Glue,” which continues with self-deprecating themes. “It must be shit to be you,” Chase croons during the chorus—a dig at his ex, but also an insight from a healthier perspective. The song, like others on the EP, is about codependency and also having the strength to walk away, to process the poison in a healthy way, to view the world from a new place.
Chase had the following to say about the new single:
“It was a huge time of growth for me, because I was realizing what I was: a white knuckling sober dude who was still suffering from the addiction of codependence. In seeing that, I was able to see my ex for who she really was, too, when I wasn’t blinded by my codependence.”
Digital pre-orders for Left on Delmar Drive are available from Black Numbers now. You can also check out the music video for Big Loser’s”I’m Rubber, You’re Glue” below:
