PUP with Ekko Astral & Jeff Rosenstock in Madison, WI

"I guess it doesn't matter anyway I don't care about nothin' but you" -PUP

The night kicked off with a buzz of anticipation as I gathered my camera gear and headed into the venue. I was eager to capture what I knew would be a memorable show. Having been a fan of PUP for some time, the chance to photograph them live was something I’d been looking forward to. Their latest album, Who Will Look After the Dogs?, dropped this past May and is packed with standout tracks—though my personal favorite is “Paranoid.”

First up was Elko Astral, a three-piece band from Washington DC. The band is known for being pioneers of “mascara moshpit” music – a pummeling puree of garage princess post-punk. As they hit the stage, the room filled with infectious energy. The lead vocalist delivered each line with focus and conviction, and every song felt personal, carrying an emotional weight that instantly resonated with the crowd. Their set was both powerful in message and beautifully executed.

Next up was Jeff Rosenstock, a Brooklyn-based musician originally from Long Island. Known for his work with Bomb the Music Industry! and The Arrogant Sons of Bitches, as well as his solo career, Rosenstock is someone I’ve been a fan of for years. When he hit the stage, my excitement only grew. His set exploded with energy, packed with fan favorites and performed with unrestrained enthusiasm. The crowd responded in kind—moshing, shouting, and singing along with every word. Photographing the set was an absolute thrill.

Finally, it was time for PUP, the pop-punk powerhouse from Toronto, Ontario. Known for their soaring guitar hooks and irresistibly catchy choruses, they’ve long been one of my favorite bands to follow. By the time they took the stage, the venue was wall-to-wall with fans. Their set spanned all five of their albums, with the crowd screaming every lyric back at them. Midway through the show, I brought my camera into the mosh pit to fully immerse myself in the chaos. As I snapped photos of the sweaty crowd, surfers floated overhead, and I reveled in every second of the frenzy. PUP’s stage presence was electric, and their connection with the audience was undeniable.

Each act brought something unforgettable to the night, and I had an incredible time capturing it all.
