Back in May, I was fortunate enough to see Remo Drive kick off their tour and celebrate the release of their new album, Natural Everyday Degradation. Then, life got in the way and and brought my output to a grinding halt. After enough of a delay, here are the pictures I took that night. Rather than attempt to write up a show from over a month ago, I’ll just subject you to the notes I took throughout. Enjoy!
Pre-Show:
Dinner with my wife at bar
Successful merging of our checking accounts
I wonder what kind of crowd this will be
*walks through a sea of babies waiting outside*
It’s an AA show
Oh I hope there’s a photo pit
There is!
Slow Bullet:
Heavy, indie rock
60% full venue
Milwaukee
Fine…
Bar rock-ish
Slow Pulp:
2nd “slow” band in a row
More heavy indie rock
Strong vocals and harmonies
Smooth, buttery, groovy guitar licks
Remo Drive:
Sound like We Were Promised Jetpacks, Joyce Manor, The Matches, The Strokes
Seamless falsetto transitions
Clapping along to “Halos”
A lot of people seem to be familiar with an album that just came out today. Thanks Limewire.
Warms my heart to see how many people are still getting down to Epitaph bands after almost 40 years
Props to the Bottom Lounge staff for being able to recognize someone in the crowd having a bad time and getting them to safety with no interruption
So much dancing
1 one more song, what! And so forth
Major crowd surfing for last, song
Even greater escalation for last, last song
