I began my day with a chilly hike as I mentally prepared myself for an exciting evening. Not only would this show be a stacked line up, but it would also be my second time covering The Devil Wears Prada. The band also just released their new full length album, Flowers, in January. The release dives into painful emotions, and explores their evolving story as a band. One of my favorite tracks has to be “For You.” The song floats on gentle builds, and airy synths. With that being said, I packed up my car, and headed to the venue with great anticipation.
First up was Split Chain, an English rock band formed in Bristol, United Kingdom. They’re known for blending shoegaze haze and nu metal, often describing their own sound as “Dreamo.” As they hit the stage, the room filled with chaotic cheers. They played various tracks off their first studio album, motionblur, and delivered a jam-packed set. The simple shoegaze melodies were extremely captivating and dreamy. The crowd swayed back and forth throughout their set, and fully soaked up every moment. I thoroughly enjoyed capturing their set.
The second act, Four Year Strong, is an American pop-punk band from Worcester, Massachusetts. I have seen them one other time on their “Enemy of the World” anniversary tour in November of 2022. I knew I was in for a real treat as the four piece band took the stage. It became very clear that Four Year Strong wasn’t here just for a show – they were here for a memorable experience. Each member displayed passionate, and infectious energy. They played multiple recent hits, and fan favorite deep tracks. I had an absolute blast seeing them live again.
The final act of the night was The Devil Wears Prada, a metal core band from Dayton, Ohio. The band has cemented their legacy long ago, and their loyal fanbase definitely showed up for them tonight. The band entered the room with great enthusiasm. They opened with “Where the Flowers Never Grow,” the second track off their new album Flowers. Throughout their set, the two lead vocalists moved from each side of the stage, keeping everyone entertained. The visuals behind the band were very captivating as well. The rest of the night was a blur of headbanging, constant mosh pits, and chaotic energy.
Overall, each act brought something special to the night, and I had an incredible time capturing every second of it.
