Dominic Davi is a man that wears more hats that you’d think would be possible. While most people can generally handle one or two or possibly a third project at one time, Dominic tends to juggle anywhere from five to eight projects on any given day. From being the bassist and de-facto leader for Tsunami Bomb (Alternative Tentacles, Kung-Fu/Cleopatra Records), a band that he co-founded about 20 years ago, to running the day-to-day business at Alternative Tentacles, that is already quite a lot of work to take on.
Atop of those duties, Dominic also operates his own design and clothing company, The Dinosaur Factory. Over the past few years he has also ventured into the podcast world with his 3 Gigs Podcast, Monster Candy Podcast, The Alternative Tentacles Batcast, and Fearless Movie Killers. In addition to this, he has been creating comic books/strips over the years, and is currently working on a script with his brother. Does Dominic Davi sleep??
Dominic has also been in bands like Love Equals Death (Fat Wreck Chords), The Blast, Headboard, and is currently working on some additional musical endeavors which I am sure we will hear about in the coming months.
During this episode, we talk a bit about what it means to have so many projects going on, particularly during this pandemic. We discuss what actions artists/bands should be taking to remain busy and relevant while shows are on hold, and the impact and possible outcomes from it all. Dominic shares with me some of his favorite bands, and goes deep into what makes Tsunami Bomb tick, what it’s been like to work with Jello Biafra as your boss, and what has helped to make Alternative Tentacles last as the iconic label that it has been over the last 40+ years.
