We’re mere days away from the biggest punk fest that the US has to offer. The Fest in Gainesville starts at the end of this week (or Wednesday if you’re partying with us in Tampa at Pre-Fest). In preparation, we chatted with Kody from The Lillingtons and Teenage Bottlerocket about the funniest Fest moment, and the best hot sauce in Gainesville.
The Lillingtons will be playing Pre-Fest at Crowbar on Thursday, October 26th at 12:40AM and playing at 8 Seconds at Fest on Friday, October 27th at 12:50AM.
Interview
How many years have you played or gone to Fest?
Bottlerocket has played it probably four or five times. This is the first time The Lillingtons have played it. We’re stoked!
What is your favorite Fest memory?
I’m not sure the year, but Bottlerocket was playing and Tim (Lillingtons) showed up halfway through the set and ran into the crowd with his shirt off swinging it around his head. I couldn’t sing cause I was laughing so hard.
What is your favorite restaurant or type of food to eat either in Gainesville or in traveling to Fest?
Boca Fiesta. The hot sauce is insane!
What bands are on your “To See” list this year?
Too many to list. It’s probably my favorite festival.
Even though Fest does not fall on Halloween this year, will you be wearing a costume? If so, what?
No, I was going to wear a Luchador costume a few years ago but chickened out.
Do you have a Fest tattoo?
No.
Have you ever done a shoey?
No, I prefer to put beer in my belly as opposed to a shoe.
How you prepare for getting and deal with having that terrible post-Fest Flu?
I’m doing this one sober for once. Looking forward to feeling good.
