We’re kicking off the week with a premiere from Oakland, CA’ Middle-Aged Queers. The band has released a raucous cover of Mazzy Star’s “Fade Into You.” For those who may be unfamiliar with the track, it captures the essence of longing and reflection, making it the perfect fit for the romantic spirit of Valentine’s Day.
The band’s timing couldn’t be more perfect, as they will be spending Valentine’s weekend hosting their much-anticipated annual Valentine’s Gay shows at 924 Gilman Street in Berkeley and Café Colonial in Sacramento! Showgoers of all ages can expect hijinks galore and good-natured fun as Middle-Aged Queers perform audience favorites as well as this new release.
Middle-Aged Queers’ frontman Shauners shares:
“When our bassist, Josh, came to us with the idea of covering this song, I was incredibly skeptical. He then upped the ante by persuading us to let him sing it, with me relinquishing lead vocal duties in exchange for playing bass on the track. I’m delighted with the results; it’s like we turned Mazzy Star into an early Jawbreaker tune.”
