In 2016, my friends turned me onto an album that was unlike anything else I was listening to at the time. I knew who Turnover was, but they didn’t sound anything like the same Turnover whose self-titled EP was in my regular rotation just a few years earlier. The album that became my new hyper-fixation was their 2015 masterpiece Peripheral Vision.
This year marks 10 years since that incredible album came out and I was fortunate enough to photograph their recent LA anniversary show in the middle of the hills surrounded by about 8,000 people. I’d never been to the Greek and the venue could not have been a more perfect setting to hear this album played in full. The vibes could not have been more on par with the energy & overall vibe of the record.
The show was kicked off with Boston’s Horse Jumper of Love. I wasn’t familiar with them going into the show, but it quickly became obvious that they were more than deserving of opening up the show and being on the tour.
Balance & Composure took the stage shortly after HJOL. The last time I saw B&C was in 2013 with Title Fight on their Floral Green tour. I’ll be honest, I was never a huge fan of Balance & Composure, but they do put on one hell of a show and I’m glad I was able to photograph them.
Seeing Turnover play this album in full was a really special thing that I’ll be thinking about for a long time. Since I don’t have a time machine, I’ll be reliving that night through these photos. Check them out and buy those tickets if you haven’t yet!
