SideOneDummy Records has announced the release of a special anniversary vinyl reissue of Much Love by Atlanta Indie rockers Microwave. The reissue will be released on March 24th and will feature acoustic versions of “Dull” and “Wrong,” both available on vinyl for the first time. Much Love was originally released on September 30th, 2016 via SideOneDummy. This ‘anniversary edition’ is part of a series of archive releases getting special reissue attention as SideOneDummy approaches their 30th year.
Of course there’s going to be limited-edition color variants of vinyl! There will be 1000 copies of “Dull” (black/silver retail edition), 250 copies of “Lighterless” (orange crush/magenta/canary tri-color blend exclusive to SideOneDummy’s webstore, 450 of “Vomit” (swamp green with yellow spatter exclusive to indie retail), and 300 transparent red/bone moon (exclusive to Project M).
The reissue will also feature entirely new artwork from Welsh illustrator Godsteeth.
The band had the following to say about the new edition:
“We’ve been following Godsteeth (Jonathon Alan Humphreys)’s work for several years now. His style strikes a chord with us and addresses the dichotomy between hope and hopelessness in a way that, to us, parallels the music we make.
We love how the original Much Love artwork contrasts the subject matter and nods to classic albums of the 60s and 70s. We thought it could be cool though to provide an updated version that contrasts the tone of the original artwork and highlights the emotional current that underlies the record. More than anything, we just like cool art and we’re stoked on Godsteeth.
Much Love was a big steppingstone in the growth of our band, and we really explored the range of what we could do sonically and lyrically. We hope you enjoy it with your children and your grandchildren’s children for years to come.”
