Today, we’re premiering a brand new single from Chicago-based band Exedo. The song, “Longest Night,” will be featured on the band’s upcoming album The Body Remembers which will be released on June 28th via Dirt Cult Records.
Exedo is a Latin word which means to eat up, devour, or consume. These acts, by self or others, are the genesis of themes for the band’s songs. They explore lyrical subjects like wasteful resource consumption, betrayal by one’s own body as it undergoes aging and illness, and the devouring void of absence and loss.
Band member Milo Mendoza stated the following:
“This song came together in one night. David introduced a guitar idea to the band at practice and I came up with a bass line I liked and then drums fell into place perfectly. It was one of the last songs we wrote before we recorded and it was so good from the very beginning. It epitomized our ability to collaborate as a band and I really love how it turned out.”
